Beauty and Care
“Beauty is when you can appreciate yourself. When you love yourself, that’s when you’re most beautiful.” says Zoe Kravitz.
People wanted to be beautiful, especially today where being physically beautiful is an asset in landing a better job. Catherine Hakim, senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Policy Studies, London, cites beauty as an “economic premium”. Economic premium means that beauty should be intentionally used as a tool for getting ahead of work. How you look can affect how you are treated by others. Pimples, acne scars, wrinkles and even the way you clothes yourself can be a reason for being teased, criticized and be treated unjustly. People who suffer from these conditions commented that it’s the easy way to get bothered by other people’s opinions. People can be really mean to someone who suffers these conditions. Comments like “Eww what happened to your face?” “You’re ugly” “Pimple freak” “Those looks like goosebumps” could really hurt someone. How you look would also affect your emotional and physical wellness. If you hate the way you look you will probably end up feeling miserable. Comparing yourself with others is not the best way to cheer you up. So how will you be able to achieve the beauty that will make you happy?
This article will help you achieve the beauty and care you need. We will provide tips that can help you face beauty and care problems.
- You need to be realistic
You are not the world’s most beautiful face, Deepika Padukone’s twin and not all of us have a perfectly structured face. So be realistic and accept who you are. Acceptance will help you view yourself positively, realizing that what once ugly was never ugly but beautiful. This will help you focus on what really are the imperfections that need attention.
- Know your skin type
There are four basic skin types: normal, dry and oily and combination skin. Normal skin types are those who have tiny pores, soft and smooth texture of the skin with a fresh rosy colour uniform transparency. Because of its tiny pores, it produces less sebum but all are balanced so the face is neither too oily nor too dry. Dry skin is a skin type that produces less sebum, so the face becomes dry and lacks moisture. Skin is scaling or flacks in patches. Skin is rough with cracks and sometimes itchy. Dry skin is caused by too much water loss from the glands because of heat and activities. It can also be caused by stress. Oily skin is a skin type that produces high level of sebum. The skin has a glossy shine and pores are clearly visible. Combination skin is a type of skin that is neither too oily nor too dry. The variations of skin type are caused by a lot of factors like genes and environmental factors. An environmental factor includes stress, climate, sun, skin products you use and others.
- Dealing with pimples
The most common problem we face with our skin is pimples. Pimples are a spot that resulted from excess oils or sebum trapped in the pores. These are small, red, pus-filled spots or zits. These could be irritating once you have a pimple breakout. Teenagers are prone to pimples and some adults too. Pimples may be caused by hormonal changes in our body. Hormonal activity causes an increase or decrease in sebum production. When someone hits puberty, hormonal changes happen and that’s when pimples break out. An increase in adrenaline and cortisol can also results in pimple break out. Temperature can also results in pimple break out especially in a humid climate where there is an increase in sweating. So if you are in a tropical place, you’ll probably notice a lot of people dealing with pimples. But what will you do if you have a pimple? First you must refrain from touching your face with your hands. Clearly our hands are one of the most unclean body parts. You better wash your hands first. Avoid other things to touch your face like your cell phones. Second, do not pop your pimples. It takes a lot of self-control not to pop a pimple. Popping could lead to more serious scenario like more swelling, redness and worst, pimple scars. Third, wash your face gently with mild soap and lukewarm water. Just squeeze the fresh juice of the lemon on a clean bowl, dip clean cotton swab in the juice and gently apply it on your face before going to bed. Leave it overnight. In the morning, wash the face well in lukewarm water. Baking soda helps exfoliate the skin to remove excess oils, dirt and dead cells. Make a soda paste by mixing a teaspoon of baking soda with some water or lemon juice. Wash your face well before applying the paste. Apply the paste on your face and leave it for 1 or 2 minutes then wash your face with lukewarm water.
